Hmmm....I am married to a former warrior, my brother and his son are warriors, and my uncle and his two sons are warriors. Knowing the heart of a warrior, I can say that war is what happens when there is no other option you can use to protect the country, given the available facts at hand. That's it. Plain and simple. It's what happens when all else fails and you must protect your country and its peoples from evil. I wonder if other commenters have warriors in their families?

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”
Edmund Burke
When we let it. When we don't protest loudly enough. When we let bad things happen in our name.

War is what happens when happens when we choose not to talk things out, or are too lazy to even try.
Or when you brainwash enough people into thinking that there are EVIL countries out there.

"war is definitely trouble for me.
it starts when two people disagree
Then they go out and have other people kill other people for them."
(from a song by the band Lawsuit)

War is what happens when a government refuses to behave itself. When this happens, other governments are forced to interfere.
Just like when a bratty child refuses to behave himself, and other people are forced to interfere.
Just like when ANYTHING or ANYONE of ANY AGE or ANY BACKGROUND refuses to behave/discipline itself, requiring outside forces to step in and do it for them.

War is what happens when the one(s) in power stand to profit from it.
Actually stole this one from my priest: he once told us power and money are at the root of all religious wars.
