Who were you named after?
My first name wasn't after anyone special, but my middle name was also my mother's sister's name.

We lived on the beach and my mom chose a name that meant the wave's crest in her name book. Not a who, but a what.

I was named after my Aunt, my Godmother, then given a "sweet little American name (Linda), and named after a saint...because I have 5 freakin' names.

My great-grandfather Charles, and my great-grandmother Fanny. Jewish thing. You can use the first letter of a name instead of the whole name.

Well, there are three of us, make that there were three of us in the family and I was the youngest so first they named my oldest brother, then my older brother and then they named me!

My mother wanted a family name, she was thinking Jemima, which goes way back to a mother & daughter during the 1770's & further, my uncle who was the family historian told her not to saddle me with that name, and suggested Rebekah, who was some later descendant of Jemima, or Mima, as she was referred to.

I was named after my great great uncle Barnabus Walcott Carrington Bathtub III. Which is very strange... because he wasn't named Shephard. And he wasn't my uncle.

oh my! I was called after the niece of the chap that introduced my parents and my maternal grandmother. The trouble was that made my initials DIC so they swapped the names around to IDC. I hated the D and changed to I when I went to art school.
