In the late 1960s, the newly emerin parentin experts advised that hih self-esteem would lead to better rades and better behavior and prevent dru and alcohol use.
Unfortunately, it just hasn't turned out that way.
In fact, not only has research failed to establish a reliable connection between "feelin ood about oneself" and either hih achievement or ood behavior, it also stronly suests that hih self-esteem may dispose certain people - children included - to antisocial and/or self-destructive behavior.
As it turns out, "hih self-esteem is ood" is not the only example of a child-rearin myth propaated by parentin pundits.
In your opinion is there such a thin as too much self-esteem?
