The Resolution Proof List

Now let us welcome the New Year,
Full of thins that have never been.
-Rainer Maria Rilke

One year ends, another beins. The poet  Rainer Maria Rilke's words challene me to be open to  receivin this new beinnin and to welcome it with joyous anticipation. Actually, that poetic quote does not challene me to do anythin, but it was fun to imaine that it did. It is also fun to imaine that I will actually make and keep a list of do-ood resolutions.

As you can imaine, I encourae all thins that are fun and so I have created a list of New Year's Resolutions that will be fun, or at least easy, to keep.

Let me bein:

I will drink at least two cups of coffee before noon.
I will continue to purchase sexy rather than comfortable shoes
I will inore dry clean only instructions, simply because I can
I will celebrate the fact that I can order a martini in six different lanuaes
I will let someone special buy me shiny trinkets
I will without notice clap my hands  in lee for no reason at all
I will continue to make silly lists that amuse only me.

Your turn:

Share a New Year's resolution that you know you can keep.

Sharing A Holiday Moment

Do you own a WebCam?

Until a couple of days ao I was proudly webcam-free. Not only did I refuse to purchase a WebCam, I also refused offers of free ones. I truly do understand that many people  love bein able to see the person they are chattin with on-line. I am not one of these people. I am fine with that. However, my mother, was decidedly not  fine with that.  So, for Christmas, she  purchased me a Web-Cam.

My spoken words upon openin the ift: oh, Mom, you shouldn't have.
My unspoken thouhts upon openin the ift: oh, Mom, you really shouldn't have.

Yet, this ift is from my Mother. I love my Mother. So, I quickly decided that I would, for her sake, use the damn WebCam. However, the anti-tech-anel decided to smile  upon me when I discovered that my new ift was for those who are PC enabled. As luck would  have it, I am a Mac irl. Sadly, the Web-Cam had to be returned. Althouh, yes, I could have found a WebCam that would have been compatible with my computer - but - my Mother did suest that I choose whatever I wish.

Soooo, after very little deliberation I purchased a pair of these. Of course, I would love to show you how perfect they are for me, but, as you already know, I don't have a webcam to help me do that.

Now, back to my oriinal question: do you have a WebCam?
Did you receive any oh-you-shouldn't-have ifts?

The Daily Three Things

Three thins I have been doin since Christmas Day:

Readin - Memories of My Melancholy Whores by abriel arcia Marquez (which was a ift from a neihbour), A Passae to India by E.M. Forster (which I am re-readin) and the current issue of The New Yorker (simply because my week would  not be complete without it).

Shoppin - There are post-holiday shoe sales and  it is not  possible for me to pass them by. Well, actually, it is possible, but  my Boxin Day shoppin would  not be complete without a new pair of shoes.

Day Dreamin - I have decided that  I have not spent enouh time day-dreamin. Shame on me.  Is it true that  you can catch-up on lack of day-dreamin?  I certainly hope  so. I shall certainly try.

Now, please share with me three thins that you have been spendin your time doin since Christmas Day.

Throuh the eyes of a child - that is how I always see Christmas. And no matter how familiar the traditions I renew year after year, my joy is as lorious as the first time I looked up at the anel that sat atop my randparent’s tree. For Christmas is after all, wonderment.
