Never! Although a close friend of mine does this with every book she reads. Once she has finished the first chapter or 2 and has a good idea of who the characters are, she immediately reads the last chapter.

I haven't but I also have a friend who does that. She cannot stand the suspense, after she reads the last chapter she can enjoy reading the book!

Yes! I am ashamed of myself for that, but I have read the last page of a book and then..never picked it up again!
What does that say about me????

I used to. But I don't anymore. I love waiting till the end!

I never, ever do this, however my dear Marisol ALWAYS reads the last page. I was horrified when she first told me. Horrified, yet not terribly surprised; she's a girl who orders dessert first, and she swears she forgets what happens on the last page by the time she's read through the book. I didn't believe her when she said that, but then again, she also orders dessert again at the end of the meal, too, and she really does know how to have a good time...

I'm afraid I've done it before, yes. I think "Gone With the Wind" was the first time - I just couldn't stand the suspense and that was a really long book for a 10 year old! I don't do it anymore so I guess I'm Reformed. :)

always. :)

WHat? Who me?
Maybe once or twice...not habitually though.
I once picked up a Star Wars novel, read the last page...and was so devestated that tehymarried Luke off that I put it down and never went back to Star Wars.
I know - lame. :P

No! I don't even like to read the book jacket or reviews of the book. (Same for movies.) I like to be surprised.
Posted by: Karen | November 08, 2005 at 05:13 PM
No, what would be the point of that?
Posted by: kenju | November 08, 2005 at 05:14 PM
For a book? Absolutely not.
But for movies? I go to Spoilers.com almost every time, because I can not deal with any more lumber-truck endings.
Posted by: Mamacita | November 08, 2005 at 05:22 PM
I do it every single time. I hate suspense. I don't want to fall for a character who's going to get squished. If the book has nothing but mystery going for it, I'm not interested. I'm gonna go right out and look at spoilers.com (if that wasn't a joke) cause it sounds like the place for me.

Bite your tongue, woman, that's blasphemy! Never!
Posted by: Plain Jane | November 08, 2005 at 06:47 PM
Never. I agree with Karen. I never read the whole book jacket synopsis. That is like seeing the entire movie in the previews they show these days.

*blush*

All the time, I'm also guilty of reading really, really fast through parts so I can get to the good stuff.

Make that MOVIE spoilers.com. Sorry.

only twice in my life: both times when the book was so AWFUL I had to know whether it was worth torturing myself for longer! (once it was, once it wasn't)

Never never never. That's like, complete vodoo!

I used to when I was growing up, but this comes from a woman who used to open her Christmas gifts and then re-wrap them...
I don't any longer...
Posted by: Shannin | November 08, 2005 at 08:17 PM
Never.
Posted by: Plumkrazzee | November 08, 2005 at 08:20 PM
and ruin the surprise? Never!!!
Posted by: Janet | November 08, 2005 at 08:36 PM
Never! I read all sorts of books, but my favourites are mysteries, and reading the last page of one of those would ruin my enjoyment of the story.
Posted by: Tania | November 08, 2005 at 08:53 PM
I am an unabashed last page reader.
Posted by: Barbara | November 08, 2005 at 09:56 PM
always...
Posted by: leanne | November 08, 2005 at 10:53 PM
Sometimes i let myself glance every so vaguely so that I can't quite focus on the storyline, but catch one sentence or two.
It never has ruined the ending. My memory is terrible these days.
Posted by: Raehan | November 08, 2005 at 10:54 PM
No! Never ever!
Posted by: Jasra | November 08, 2005 at 11:32 PM
never. I think people who do this are party poopers!!
Posted by: indigo | November 08, 2005 at 11:33 PM
Absolutely not! I want the suspense of finding out what happens.
Posted by: iliana | November 08, 2005 at 11:54 PM
Never...that would be cheating! Heehee!!!

Read the last page? Getting me to read any page is a miracle sometimes...
Posted by: Begered | November 09, 2005 at 02:27 AM
Never!
Posted by: emaleejayne | November 09, 2005 at 03:20 AM
i have to confess, i sometimes do! especially when i'm at a bookstore. sometimes that becomes my basis for buying the book! :)
Posted by: ribbiticus | November 09, 2005 at 07:35 AM
yup....but books and I have understanding. They dont get expect to be read by me and I wont waste their time buying them.
Posted by: shannon | November 09, 2005 at 08:24 AM
My boyfriend peeked at the last page of the newest Harry Potter! And then he kept dropping hints and clues as to who died while I was **trying** to read it. Freaking irritating.
Posted by: Shana | November 09, 2005 at 01:50 PM
I do like to flip to the last page but only to read the last paragraph or few lines, to see if it ends well. And by that I don't mean that I need a "happy ending" but it should be well-written.
