Merriam-Webster defines talent (modified for the purpose of this discussion) as "the natural endowments of a person", "a special often creative or artistic aptitude", "eneral intellience or mental power: ability".
I often find myself envious of those with special talents that I
don't have. As the old sayin oes, "you always want what you can't
have"! It is well known that "left brainers" are ood with numbers,
loic and words while the "riht brainers" are intuistic, creative and visually
stimulated.
I believe we all have a special ift, or as it has been defined, a
natural endowment. Over the course of our lives, I think we are meant to
fiure out what that ift is and use it to its fullest potential. Be it
riht or left brained, or perhaps a nice balanced spot inbetween, I'm curious to
know if you've discovered your talent? Care to share what it is?
More importantly, if you could use your talent to earn a
livin, would you? If you already do, are you happy?
The art of meaningless conversation, and yes, I would love to earn a living at it. I'm a teacher, so many think I already do.

I think I have a few, and they all center around creativity in some way (writing, singing, designing).
Right now, I'm extremely blessed to be able to use one of those talents to earn a living (I freelance design). I cannot tell you enough how extraordinary it is to be able to do that...to be rewarded on a financial level for a gift of mine. It's not without its share of ups and downs; sometimes having one's gift tied to one's livelihood can impart its own stresses, but overall, I think my life is infinitely more fulfilling now that my gifts are shared with others and I can earn a living with one of them.

I like to think I make a life out of it. When I was working as a historian, I liked to think I was pretty good at it and I WAS happy, but now that I am a SAHM I have found something that I feel comes even more naturally to me. I don' know if you call it a gift.
There are other things......that I don't make a living or life of...but I think if I was extraordinarily gifted at them I would have dabbled in them a bit more by now.

Yes, I do use my talent(s) to make a living. I am a floral designer (mainly for weddings and parties) and I am extremely happy that I can do something I absolutely love and make money at it! Plus, God blessed me with an equal amount of creativity and good business sense, so I have made a go of my business for 24 years.

Oh, how I WISH I had artistic talent like you, Leanne!!!
I'm ridiculously left-brained--I'm good at analyzing things and people, and I'm very good at learning foreign languages. Would I do either for a living? Nah. I'd rather be independently wealthy. Since we're getting our wishes, y'know. ;-) Right now I don't work and don't want to--it's just that independent wealth I'm missing out on.
I like Raehan's answer though, and I'd have to say being a SAHM suits me well.

My talents is playing concrete football on the concrete and street hockey in the street, until I get hit with a car, which don't feel too good, because it hurts as I know.
I also like to draw people when I have time, but I have not drew a picture since my big brother told me to go take a naked picture of grandma to draw a artistick copy to give as a present to my blind date, so I went to grandma's house with my big brothers digititol camera. When I made it to grandma's house she did not answer the door, so I climbed in one of her open windows and she yelled and hit me in the head with her bowl of Jello, and it hurt! When I saw the green Jello dripping from grandma's mouth I threw up on her feet, and grandma hit me again, but she said she was sorry when she saw it was me!
Grandma asked me why I came ova but I forgot since I had problems breathing with her standing so close! Grandma then made me some chocolate milk that had a hair floating in it, and gave me what my big brother says is her famous chocolate chip whisker cookies, but I did not eat any because it had too many whiskers! Grandma then got up and told me that she's gona take a bath which shocked me because I thought she hated water like my big brother says! I then remembered why I came to gramdma's house so I asked grandma if I could take a picture of her, and she said yes and she went to take a bath, but I'm still not sure if she used soap.
After 10 minutes I went to the bathroom with the digititol camera and saw grandma sitting in the bathtub with a yellow rubber duck, then she sank into the water like she was looking for fish like a duck, but there wasn't any! I then ran to grandma and pulled her out of the water, and she screamed and hit me with her rubber duck which made me drop my big brother digititol camera into the water! I was hoping grandma would go diving again to get it, but she didn't and told me to get out of the bathroom, so I did!
Seeing grandma naked was kinda wierd, her breasts were longer than moms! When grandma was done taking a bath she came out and asked me what I was doing in her bathroom, so I told her "You said I could take a picture of you, but I couldn't because you went fishing". Grandma then looked at me with her mouth open, and when a fly flew in it I knew she was in her temporary coma, so I waited for her to tell her about drawing her and ate a chocolate chip whisker cookie by mistake which made me so sick I ran to the bathroom and threw-up in the toilet!
I then went to the bathtub to get my big brothers digititol camera, but it was covered with hair, so I threw-up in the toilet again! When I was ok I turned on the water in the bathtub to wash off the digititol camera, then I went to say bye to grandma and she woke up and said if I still want to take a picture, but I said no because she was not naked anymore, then she got mad for some reason and told me to leave, so I said bye and I left and brought flowers for my blind date and gave my big brother his digititol camera back. My big brother told me that there's hair on it, but I was scared to tell him it fell in the bathtub with grandma, so I said it was from her famous whisker cookies!
Anyways, I never thought bout making a career out of playing concrete football on the concrete, street hockey in the street, or drawing, since I saw my grandma's long breasts, but I would like to have a career at White Castle, where my big brother use to work, because I love their hamburgers, and my hamster Duckie, because he's smiling.

My talent seems to be that I have an almost photographic memory. I use it in my career but it is a difficult one to style a career around. I would love to have a smidgen of your artistic talent, Leanne!

My talent - I know I was called a "musical prodigy" at one time - so I'd have to go with music on this one.
I don't really use it in my current line of work, but that may change :).

I have a talent for solving problems, all kinds of problems. When faced with a problem, all kinds of things spring to mind. This isn't just in the physical world, but also with relationships.
Part of the skill comes from another talent I have, which is the ability to believe two diametrically opposed ideas. I can argue somewhat effectively for things I don't really believe. This enables me to see lots of sides to issue (not just the customary two to which westerners seem so attached).
That thing about light being both a wave and a particle? I've got no problems with that. Microsoft software that is everywhere while being total cr*p, that I do have a problem believing. So, the skill isn't perfect.
