OK so you are the one that brought up Janis Joplin. It's a Kris Kristofferson song, first recorded by Roger Miller(as far as I know) Janis just covered it. So there.

Janis Joplin recorded it on the 1971 album "Pearl"
So, yes Tommy you are correct. However, to ME it will always be a Janis Joplin song.

Yes, but I think Janis is the one that really made it a HIT. The Grateful Dead did a cover of it, also.
