Haven't been in a H.A.B.
Would fly over: JOHANNESBURG, S.A.

Have done it, and have to admit-it was just ok. It didn't change my life or anything.
Now skydiving, on the other hand...
Posted by: Helen | February 25, 2005 at 07:24 AM
hmm.. nope.
and if i did.. probably over the world !

I wanted nothing more than to get up in one of these when I was little. Every year, the library would do a raffle at the end of the summer reading program, and every year I would cross my fingers when they would get to the hot air balloon ride, but it never happened, alas.
I don't think I could do it now... I'm far more nervous 15 years later.

Never have. I did go skydiving 1nce... repeat *1nce*.
I'll look at postcards from high above from now on.

I have! I have! But, it was only over my hometown, so it really wasn't that thrilling. I've taken a helicopter tour over Hawaii though... I would love to take a hot-air baloon ride somewhere in the west...that would be cool.

I'd LOVE to take a hot air balloon ride- despite the fact that you're hundreds of feet in the air in nothing but an oversized wicker basket! Could I not pick a city and go with someplace like the Grand Canyon or the mountains on a fall day, full of rolling expanses of reds, burnt oranges and yellows as far as the eye could see? Yeah, I'd pick that.

I haven't ever, but I'd love to. I think I'd like to fly over London at night - I've seen so many postcards of London from above, it'd be cool to see it for myself.

NYC of couse!
Don't they serve champagne on those flights.
;)
Posted by: elle | February 25, 2005 at 08:56 AM

Sugartit. Kentucky.

I would love to go!
Boston.
Posted by: Cecilia | February 25, 2005 at 09:39 AM
I was in one over Angel Fire New Mexico. There was no wind at all, so we basically went up then straight down, but we got to see the sunrise over the mountains, it was beautiful. And very different since we have NO mountains in Florida!
I'd like to go hot air ballooning over the coast of Maine.

No, and no - too chicken!
Posted by: Zinnia Cyclamen | February 25, 2005 at 09:54 AM
I have never been in one and would never, ever, ever step foot in one. They have always scared the holy heck out of me. It looks to be a sure way to fly off into oblivion and then down to your doom- but maybe I'm just a little chicken....

No. Yes. Arizona Deserts.
Posted by: blaze | February 25, 2005 at 10:13 AM
No. Yes, I'd like to. Anywhere.
Posted by: milktea | February 25, 2005 at 10:15 AM
I would love to do sunrise or sunset over Napa Valley
Posted by: Shannin | February 25, 2005 at 10:50 AM
I'd fly over my ex-husband's house, and wait til he came outside. When he did, I'd spit on his head.
or
I'd like to fly over a volcano in Hawaii. but what if the balloon melted?

Rome. Or Athens.
Posted by: Mamacita | February 25, 2005 at 11:03 AM
No, but when I was a kid we went to the Internation Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque every year. I really like looking at them but not sure how I'd be in one, flying over Jackson Hole, WY.
Posted by: InsanePreschoolMom | February 25, 2005 at 12:16 PM
I have always wanted to, but never have.
I would love, love, love to fly in a hot air ballon over the Utah Dessert, near Capitol Reef National Park.

Rome. But I'd just love to go there in any circumstances...

After reading Everlasting Love by Ian McEwan I don't think I ever would want to.
Posted by: Sam | February 25, 2005 at 02:30 PM
No. However, I would like to take a HAB over Beijing to see the Great Wall of China.
Posted by: Alzinna | February 25, 2005 at 02:31 PM
I haven't riden in a hot air balloon, but I would sure love too. I think about it every year during our Balloon Classic (labor day weekend). I think it would be cool to ride in one over our town... or New York... if you could miss the buildings ;)

I've never done it, but I like flying over the Caribbean with all of it's lovely shades of blue and green water!

I have! And I have an incredible fear of heights. It was during a family reunion at Jackson Hole, WY a couple years ago. I was enjoying the ride with my Honey, two young second cousins of his and one older first cousin in the basket with me. All was well and enjoyable, only slightly terrifying for me, until one of the little girls next to me threw up in her hat. She then curled up on the floor of the basket.
If there is anything that I hate more than heights it's having to hear or see another person vomit. This combination threw me over the edge (no, not literally).
So the balloon man slowly drifted us back to land in order to let the little puker girl off. By that time, I couldn't take anymore so I climbed out with her and escorted her back to her condo.
Maybe I'll try again someday...

Riding in a hot air balloon is one of those things that's on my list of things that I want to do before I die. Every year there is a air balloon race and the night before you can go to the "lighting"...basically that's where all the balloons are lit up but not flying..it's absolutely gorgeous. If I could pick where I would like to fly over...it would have to be in the eastern states on a sunny day during autumn. The beautiful colors would be breathtaking!

I would LOVE to go up in a hot air balloon, but the thought of how you land I find rather terrifying! ANyway, I would love to fly over Melbourne, my home city. I am sure the view from the sky would be amazing. If I was OS I would love to float across Paris.
Posted by: Melody | February 25, 2005 at 06:39 PM
No, I havent been in one, but I think Id like to fly over Paris
Posted by: A-Dub | February 25, 2005 at 07:01 PM
Nooooooooo...too high, too high!
Posted by: Thumper | February 25, 2005 at 07:50 PM
I've been in one, over the Napa Valley, and LOVED it. I would go again in a heartbeat.
Choose ONE city? Vienna... Florence... Budapest... Glascow... (Sorry, couldn't do it.)
Posted by: Kimberly | February 25, 2005 at 08:25 PM
Never but I'm all about it
when do we go?
I think Paris might be lovely this time of year
Posted by: milehighdiva | February 25, 2005 at 10:15 PM
I never have, but if I could fly over Paris, I'd jump at the chance! (I wouldn't jump *in* the balloon... I mean I wouldn't jump *out* of the balloon... oh forget it. I'm not funny.)
And a note to Mile High Diva - Paris is freaking cold this time of year! Wait a few months, and then take me with you!

I haven't but I'd like to over the French countryside. I just imagine fuzzy white sheep over patchwork fields, surrounded by stone walls. The occasional country church and parish house. A red convertible with a woman driving, a scarf streaming behind her.

Sydney, AU
