In my defense, may I just point out that I did not realise how difficult the clues were until after they were posted. Forive me? Please say yes. As I have already mentioned I will be postin two rounds this weekend and one will have much easier clues. Often it is not the difficulty of the clues but time restraints. If you only have a partial list please consider submittin it.
Later today or early tomorrow I will update this post with the names of all players from the first round. However, I will not separate the all-correct players from the almost-correct players until I have contacted the players who mis-uessed. I would never wish to embarrass anyone so I first need permission from individual players to include their names in any posts.
Please offer feedback. Did you fiure out the clues usin the same loic that I used in creatin them? If yes, should I be worried or should you?
Any opinion or comment about Round One clues would be appreciated.

The Answers: with explanations for the clues.
- Fighting Inertia: Mrs Robinson is a favourite and the hare lost. One of Anita's favourite movies is "The Graduate" which features the character Mrs Robinson; Anita also has a large picture of a turtle on the top of her site and according to a well -known childhood fable when the turtle raced the hare the hare lost.
- Difficult by Design: No big hair, lots of good taste, and oh what a view. La Nina tells us that she is a Jersey girl without the big hair and the view refers to the skyline in her top graphic.
- Mile High Diva: A city girl with sage mountain dreams. Cyndy tells us in her small "about me" blurb that she lives in a big city; Cyndy and her own the glorious Sage Mountain Herbals
- Uncle Horn Head: Cold turkey, matted hair, and lion's roar. Cold turkey hints at UHH attempt to quit smoking which he mentions in his tagline. Matted hair is mentioned in the explanation for his name and he has a Go Lions button that links to Penn State.
- Sheiss Weekly: Double shot of Twain and double shot of Bassett on the same page. Mamacita offers two Mark Twain quotes in the upper left hand corner of her blog; the bottom of her blog features two Brian Bassett cartoons.
- Mommy Matters: Titanic nut that majored in psychology. Christine offers both of these facts in her "100 things" list.
- Mini-Obs: Music chick refuses to act her age. Nat features a different musician every day making her very much a music chick and she tells us in her small "about me" blurb that she refuses to act her age.
- Magnificent Octopus: Underwater Seuss will reach out and grab you. An octopus is found underwater and will reach out and grab you; Isabella's sidebar links sound much like the Dr. Seuss book."One Fish, Two Fish."
- D D Sez: There is alwayz more here. Dave Diamond often uses a z rather than a s in many of his sidebar titles.
- One Ping Only: Sidewalk chalk leads to much hopping. Maura's tagline reads "Cavorting along the hopscotch board of the Internet. Toss your marker again and see where you land." Many hopscotch "boards" are created with sidewalk chalk and all players must hop from one square to another.
- Insanely Inane Thoughts: "Original writing" Roger Ebert approved. At the very bottom of Rohit's blog there is a large button that says "original writing." At the top of his blog is a thumb's up sketch which is the sign that Roger Evert gives if he likes a film.
- My Whim is Law: Double the normal "things," went from the middle to right and now on the west. Most people offer a "100 things list" Betsy offers 200 things which is double. She tells us that she lived in Michigan and then New York and now Portland (thus middle, right and now west).
- Muzik's Muzings: Side effects of this blog might also include a one thing list. John's 100 things has only one item and he did have listed what the side effects of his blog are.
- Kimbofo: Rhymes with Dora, click thru and "mother has an amazing garden." In the sidebar Kimbofo has a series of links to her photo albums. One album is titled Flora which rhymes with Dora once this link is clicked there is a brief introduction that states "my mother has an amazing garden."
- Bluegrass Mama: Profile sketch - "wanna make something of it?" Cat's about me photo found at the top of her blog is a sketch of a woman's profile and if you click on her complete profile she lists that she is a "Homemaker--wanna make something of it?"
- Can't Keep Quiet: Speech pathologist "left of center." Mulligan tells us in her about me page that she is politically left of center and that she is a speech/language pathologist.
- Amberbamberboo: Married to a man with a kilt and she loves to iron. Amber's "100 Things" lists that she loves to iron and that her husband Len is from Scotland.
- Barefoot Principessa: Prince wears sneakers but the mascot does not. There is two pictures in the sidebar of Principessa's blog one is of her husband The Sneakered Prince and the other of her Ripleydog the mascot, who is not wearing sneakers.
- honestyrain: A checklist of argyle words, watch for the puddles. A very recent post is called "Checklist," which is listed on her before list. The last part of the blog name is rain which will cause puddles and the background of this blog is an argyle pattern.
- Rip Lips Off: A fan of Fern and Wilber and the Assistant Director liked her. Fern and Wilber are characters from Charlotte's Web the first book that is listed on the sidebar under "5 Authors on a Deserted Island" - and yes she lists those characters names. The about me page reveals that this blogger was "once a huge fan of The X-files, hence the Scully moniker." Well, Scully was liked by the Assistant Director Skinner.
Man, at least I got the ones I guessed right. I matched the first clue to Anita because of the Mrs. Robinson clue, but I could make nothing of the hare clue, so I wasn't sure enough to write it down. I don't know if that's a cultural thing, but I only know the story of the hedgehog and the hare. The hare lost nevertheless.

I feel better...we could have made this a month long game...I still would have gotten only one right..and still only because I emailed and asked.

Thank you for doing this by the way. I know it must take up a considerable amount of time to search through blogs and then, come up with clues.
The beauty of the clues is that it tends to make us read more of the other person's blog. You actually tend to see a blog when you go past the first post!

YIPPY!!!

I got two of them right but I simply didn't have enough time to search long enough. I'm so busy doing 4th grade math homework....ya know?

I thought Maura rhymed with Dora!
Posted by: Kathy | January 27, 2005 at 04:55 PM
I got five out of twenty. I guess I will have to try harder next time.
I liked that the clues were challenging! Thanks for doing this, Michele. :)

I tried to finish, but I just couldn't. I did have a blast trying. Met some fabulous people, read some great stuff. It was a little difficult to figure out the thought process behind the clues, but not unlike any great puzzle. I appreciate all your time and effort, you are one of a kind!

I think I got 7, so not too bad for the first time out....

I thought the clues were difficult, but that's the FUN of it!
I read some posts on blogs I'd never seen before. Truly a wonderful excursion.

I got 17 out of 20. These were my wrong guesses:
#10. Insanely Inane Thoughts: I thought that the "sidewalk chalk" was Rohit's blog chalk at the top of his page. Hopping? Well, I assumed I'd missed something.
#11. Muzik's Musings: I thought that your typo'd "Origional writing" referred to John's spelling of Muzik, and he also has a "thumbs up" on his sidebar. And of course, John's writing is original.
#13. One Ping Only: This was the leftover one. One ping rhymes with one thing... if only I had checked John's 100 things list...
OK... now on to the next hunt. I already know at least one of the answers!
Posted by: Kimberly | January 27, 2005 at 08:52 PM
Other than my stupid mistyping of the blog name I have all 20 right! OMG OMG OMG.
I thought the clues were hard...but if one really paid attention to the blog AND I MEAN REALLY PAID DETAILED ATTENTION they could be found. Whew.

My mind just doesn't work this way.

Man, and I thought mine was pretty easy, since I don't have an About Me page or a 100 things list -- there was only the tagline! And, oh! To be the leftover one! I'm sorry, Kimberly. If it's any consolation, I have not yet been able to figure out which one is your clue in Round Two either. :-)
And yes, Kathy, Maura rhymes with Dora, but not everyone pronounces it that way...unfortunately for me!
Posted by: Maura | January 28, 2005 at 03:20 AM
I got em all! Woo hoo! I think they were challenging but it was good that way. Some of the answers were more obvious and easier to find than others...which is why it took me two days!
Loads of fun!

Thank you to everyone who came by to visit! I didn't play the first round since I was in it, but will have to dive into round two this weekend if time permits...
