Willful Expose'

It's such a wonderful speech--its merits jumped out to me even before I took a speechwriting class. MLKjr. was truly a hero.

Allow freedom to ring. It's still a dream....

I was surprised to learn that "I Have A Dream" was a speech he'd given before. A couple of times, in fact.

Still, it's a great speech. The words " not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" are so true.

I read the words and I hear his voice. I feel the heat of that summer, the concrete on my bare feet. It sent shivers up my spine then.

The effect is no less today.

Thanks for posting this. I linked to it as a part of my MLK post....

Bathroom Reading

The most amazing 16 minutes in the history of oratory.

I'm a courtroom lawyer. I used to go to the History Channel and listen to that speech, over and over. Just to hear how it was supposed to be done. I still, to this day and after probably hundreds of times listening to it, get chills.

I just went back there, to no avail. They don't have the speech anymore. But I found it here: http://www.americanrhetoric.com/mp3clips/politicalspeeches/mlkihaveadreamgo1a.mp3.

Reading just a few words of this speech gives me goosebumps, every single time.

MLK's Beyond Vietnam speech ( http://www.africanamericans.com/MLKjrBeyondVietnam.htm ) is also well worth rereading, as the US is again in the midst of a troubling war. And that's all I'll say about it here.

Thank you for this powerful reminder, Michele.

To think what might have been had he not been murdered. To think what we might accomplish as a planet if we didn't just set aside our differences, but celebrated them for the beautiful rainbow that they create. If only...

This speech gives me chills. It is incredible.

I have heard MLK give portions of this speech prior to Washington,DC.. I always wondered if he truly wrote all/part of it or whether he used a speechwriter ?
